4 Ways To Create Opportunities & Open Doors for Yourself

If you know me then you know I have never been the type to wait for opportunities to come to me. I go get them and/or create them. Because waiting for them to come to you is never a guarantee and you can’t depend on luck because luck isn’t guaranteed as well. I say don’t depend on luck, but depend on yourself to make some ish happen for yourself.

One thing that I have come to realize is the majority of people miss opportunities because they don’t realize they are encountering one. Let me drop some basic rules of life for you: There will always be opportunities for those who recognize and pursue them. People that are lucky are simply individuals that have taken more chances.
So here are 4 tips:
Open your eyes
There’s a lot happening in the world even more than you see. Start with what you have and work with those across. Too many ppl focus on trying to make it to that next level and feel by doing that they have to network up. No! The best thing to do is network across, build with some solid women and you help push and elevate each other to the next level. A lot of you have relationships with some cool people, but you’re too focused on the person that you feel is above that you don’t see the gems around you and because of that, you may miss out opportunities that are right in your face.
Meet New People
How does the saying go; “Your net worth is your network”. Don’t be scared to go out and meet new people on your own. Because if you want to be presented with more opportunities, you simply have to get out and meet new people to build with. The more people that you know, the greater chances of you being presented with new experiences. Reach out to meet for coffee, go to conferences and meet-ups with people that have similar interests as you. Don’t forget about join Facebook groups and LinkedIn.
Don’t Be Afraid To Reach Out
Closed mouths don’t get fed. So with that being said how are certain people and brands suppose to know that you are out there and what you have to offer. If you want to work with a particular brand don’t wait and hope they come across your page and/or website and see everything that you have going on and want to work with you. Design your media kit and pitch yourself! I know a lot of people personally and myself that have gotten the opportunities to work with brands all from reaching out and pitching yourself correctly and professionally.
Keep Learning
One thing about learning is that it never ends and you can always learn something new or pick-up new skills and techniques to apply. I like to say to have a student attitude and always be willing to soak up knowledge. Learning doesn’t always have to be in a formal classroom setting. If you keep an open mind, you’ll learn something new everyday whether you’re out searching for it, from your partner, your children, friends, associates, your personal banker even strangers if you’re willing to be polite and have a conversation with you. You’ll be surprised by what you can learn from others by simply being polite.
In the end you must be willing to get out there and put these steps into action by doing them. You will never be presented with opportunities by scrolling Instagram all day and watching TV all night. Go out and be seen take part in the world and watch what comes your way.
